Who it's for

Is the Restorative Journey right for you?

When Pushing Through Is No Longer Enough

You’ve been carrying on for so long. For your work, for your loved ones, for everything that needs your attention.

But now, weekends are no longer enough to recharge. Your body struggles to recover, sleep no longer feels restorative, and the energy and motivation you once had seem out of reach.

Or perhaps you’ve been through an illness, and while medical care has helped, you still don’t quite feel like yourself again.

The Restorative Journey is for those who recognise themselves in these experiences and feel ready to take an active role in their well-being.

What our participants share is a desire to engage in their own healing journey — not simply to receive care, but to explore, learn, and discover new ways of supporting their health.

Neither therapy nor a holiday

The retreat is not psychotherapy: no one will put you on the couch, no one will dig into your past. Nor is it a spa or a passive stay: you are not just coming to rest, you are coming to get your body and your energy moving again, with support at every step. It is a demanding and caring stay, where you take an active part in your own recovery.

The clinical backing behind this approach: three FSP psychologists, specialised in psychotraumatology and trained in Somatic Experiencing® (a body-based approach to trauma treatment), surrounded by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals. You are in trained hands, in a setting where no one “psychologises” you.

The team

Different Expertise, One Shared Purpose

Three Co-Founders, One Multidisciplinary Team

The Restorative Journey is designed and led by three psychologists accredited by the Swiss Federation of Psychologists (FSP), specialising in psychotraumatology and the psychological impact of traumatic experiences.

Together, they bring their expertise to every aspect of the retreat, creating a carefully coordinated and deeply personalised experience.

Sabrina Alberti is also a qualified physiotherapist, bringing an understanding of the connection between body and mind that has been central to the retreat’s philosophy from the very beginning.

But they don’t work alone. The richness of the Restorative Journey lies in the complementary perspectives and expertise of a multidisciplinary team of seven to eight therapists, working together throughout each retreat.

The Seven Core Physiological Systems of Functional Medicine

Our approach draws inspiration from the seven interconnected systems described in functional medicine, notably by American physician Dr Mark Hyman:

  • Nutrition, digestion and the gut microbiome
  • Defence and repair
  • Energy production
  • Detoxification and elimination
  • Circulation and transport
  • Communication and regulation, including hormones and neurotransmitters
  • Structural integrity, encompassing the body’s physical framework

Each treatment and practice offered during the retreat is designed to address one or more of these areas, contributing to an integrated approach to health and well-being.

Throughout Your Stay, You’ll Experience:

  • Qi Gong, nature walks and meditation
  • CellGym® (intermittent hypoxic training)
  • Acupuncture and osteopathy
  • Somatic Experiencing® (a body-oriented approach to trauma therapy)
  • Energy-based therapies
  • Lymphatic drainage and relaxation massages
  • Personalised nutrition and targeted nutritional supplements

Testimonials

“Transformed”: In Their Own Words

Three to four weeks after each retreat, the co-founders personally reconnect with every participant. These conversations reveal how the benefits of the experience continue to unfold in everyday life, as participants embrace new habits and take an active role in sustaining their well-being.

I was suffering from chronic pain due to an autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis, as well as post-traumatic shocks and mental overload. I arrived in survival mode and I left in rebirth mode. Thanks to all the therapists, I experienced a rebirth and I am eternally grateful to them. I thank them for their kindness, gentleness and attentiveness.

Magda

Restorative Journey Participant

When I arrived in Magnano, I was really not in good shape. My autoimmune disease, multiple sclerosis, was giving me a lot of pain. My stay was full of wonderful discoveries. I made a deal with Sabrina: I would practice Qi Gong on the last day without my canes. I am so proud and happy to say that I did it! A big thank-you to the whole team for taking such good care of me with kindness and compassion.

Nathalie

Restorative Journey Participant

I found it incredible to experience such a wide range of treatments and therapeutic approaches, from massage and nutrition to Qi Gong, and to feel, deep within myself, how beautifully they complement one another and form an inseparable whole.

Angelica

Restorative Journey Participant

A wonderful, beautifully organised retreat in an idyllic setting, with a remarkable sense of harmony between all the different activities. I was able to enjoy everything at my own pace: treatments, opportunities to learn, enriching conversations, delightful moments of connection and relaxation, and constant care and support — not to mention the delicious, thoughtfully prepared food.

The entire experience nourished and enriched me, both physically and emotionally. And, as the icing on the cake, the sun shone throughout the entire week!

Pierre

Restorative Journey Participant

Coming back to Magnano means reconnecting with the silence of this place, the beauty of what is offered to us with such care and delicacy. We are well surrounded by highly skilled therapists who look after us while giving us the keys to our own well-being. I arrived with a very deep tiredness and I am leaving replenished and full of a lovely energy. Thank you! I am 84 and I feel so good in this group and in this atmosphere where all ages mix.

Privilège – The Complete Retreat Experience

A six-day immersive retreat, beginning on Saturday evening and ending the following Friday, designed for first-time participants.

Your journey begins well before you arrive in Magnano. A personal consultation with one of our co-founders helps us design your individual programme and guide you through the nutritional preparation, ideally starting four weeks before the retreat.

During your stay, you’ll enjoy two to three individual therapeutic sessions each day, alongside the full programme of group practices and activities.

And the journey doesn’t end when you leave. A personal follow-up session helps you integrate your experience and carry its benefits into everyday life.

You’ll also enjoy the full programme of group practices, nourishing cuisine, and accommodation.

Two out of three participants return after their first retreat, choosing either to experience the full retreat again or to continue their journey with Renewal.

The book

Recettes de Vie: the book born of the retreat

The retreat's cooking gave rise to a book, “Recettes de Vie” (in French), written by Thérèse Cuttelod, Sabrina Alberti and Laurence de Vargas Oddo, with chef Alex Rahmatulins. It captures the spirit of the stay: taking care of yourself through gourmet cooking, without deprivation. Many participants come to the retreat through the book; it is the best foretaste of it.
